While select devices have already started receiving beta builds of Android Nougat 7.1.2, there are still lots of smartphones out there which haven't even received Android 7.0 yet. One of these handsets is the Huawei Honor 6X. However, it now appears that the update will be rolling out to the device next month.
In a statement sent to Android Police, Huawei confirmed that the Honor 6X will receive EMUI 5 and Android Nougat in March. The company stated that:
The new EMUI for Honor 6X will be arriving next month, and it’s been updated based on consumer feedback. In case you or your team is planning a full review any time soon, it might be worthwhile to wait!
The Honor 6X was announced for the US and Europe at CES 2017 last month. And while it offered decent specifications at a competitive price, it was criticized by some for sporting the outdated Android Marshmallow and EMUI 4.1.
That said, Huawei has been relatively quick in delivering timely updates to its smartphones. The Honor 8 received Android Nougat 7.0 last month, and it now seems like the 6X will be receiving more or less the same features, tweaked based on "consumer feedback".
