Official renders of the upcoming Huawei P50 series have apparently leaked, courtesy of Twitter user @RODENT950. The two images show off the camera bump and confirm that the Chinese company is once again going for a unique design compared to just about everything else.
The images show a camera bump consisting of two circles on a larger pill-shaped bump, which isn't all that new. What's more interesting is that each of these circles has multiple cameras in it, with the top circle apparently featuring three cameras, while the bottom one includes another camera sensor and what appears to be an LED flash. Another LED flash is also present outside of the two circles, and it's possible that each of them is used for different cameras.
The renders seem to be somewhat close to previously leaked real-life photos, but there are some notable differences. Those images showed two camera sensors per bump, and only one LED flash was to be found, outside the two circles. Of course, these could have been prototypes and the final design could be different.
The new images also include the Leica logo below the camera setup, which isn't much of a surprise. The two companies have collaborated on the cameras used in Huawei phones for quite some time, and in fact, Huawei has made its camera prowess a big focus with each of its phones in recent years. However, another user pointed out that the focus length of the camera setup ranges from 13mm to 90mm, suggesting that a periscope camera may not be included this time around. That may be disappointing for fans of lossless zoom, but it could also be that we're not getting the full picture yet.
Huawei has consistently made some of the most interesting-looking phones out there, particularly in regards to the camera setup. Both the Mate 30 Pro and Mate 40 Pro featured a somewhat unique circular shape for their camera layout, and it looks like the company is willing to keep experimenting.
