Despite uncertainties surrounding the future of its products and services due to U.S. restrictions, Huawei has assured customers that its smartphones and tablets will still receive Android updates in the future, in a statement posted today on its website in an effort to clear up some issues related to its products.
Among other things, the company announced that at least 17 smartphone models are expected to be updated to Android Q as it continues to work with Google. These handsets are:
- P30 Pro
- P30
- Mate 20
- Mate 20 Pro
- PORSCHE DESIGN Mate 20 RS
- P30 lite
- P smart 2019
- P smart+ 2019
- P smart Z
- Mate 20 X
- Mate 20 X (5G)
- P20 Pro
- P20
- Mate 10 Pro
- PORSCHE DESIGN Mate 10
- Mate 10
- Mate 20 Lite
It should be noted as well that the Mate 20 Pro has already been part of the Android Q beta developer program which launched earlier last month. Other handsets included in the program are those manufactured by other Chinese OEMs such as Xiaomi, OPPO, and Vivo.
Aside from reassuring consumers of continued updates for its devices, Huawei also debunked some misconceptions regarding its products. It said Facebook's apps like WhatsApp, Instagram, and the core Facebook app will remain available to Huawei users, albeit not out of the box if a previous report is any indication.
