Sega and Amplitude Studios are bringing the upcoming 4X strategy game Humankind to Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass for PC subscription on the day of the game's full release. The announcement arrived today, just a week before the game launches, adding yet another high-profile launch to the service.
Developed by Amplitude, the makers behind the Endless franchise, the title is a historical strategy game akin to Firaxis's massively popular Civilization series. As expected from a game in this genre, players will be choosing a civilization from a number of choices in the Neolithic Era and expanding it through the ages by constructing cities, developing relationships with other factions, combining with more cultures, and conquering rivals with tactical combat, if everything goes to plan that is.
The title has seen a couple of delays in the past, with Sega pushing the launch from 2020 to this year. There have been several public playtests during this time as the developer polished the gameplay and strategies. The same testing system is now being utilized by the Company of Heroes studio Relic for its latest title, which is another Sega-published game.
Humankind is launching on August 17 across Steam, Epic Games Store, and Stadia for $59.99. With today's announcement, PC players subscribing to Xbox Game Pass for PC or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscriptions will be able to jump into the strategy experience on the same date for no extra charge.
