Get the complete rundown on what may be the best fighting game of the year. Tekken has been reborn.
After a great deal of speculation and pre-E3 rumors, Tekken 5 has finally been officially unveiled by Namco. While there isn't a lot of information available on the title, the screens and video Namco provided at E3 2004, along with a few tidbits on the gameplay have allowed us to take an early look at what could be one of the top fighting games of 2004.
From what we know of the story, Tekken 5 picks up right after Jin Kazama's Tekken 4 ending. As his white feathers float down from the ceiling of the Mishima complex, an army of Jack-3 robots invade. Kazuya and Heihachi brutally fend them off, until Kazuya finally decides it's time to let his old man die, and takes off. Soon after, one of the Jack-3 units initiates a self-destruct sequence and takes the complex as well as Heihachi with him. Immediately after the explosion, we are introduced to one of the new characters, Raven, who radios to someone, "Heihachi Mishima is dead." We can only assume that at some point after this, a fifth King of the Iron Fist Tournament is held. Hopefully we'll have further story clarification soon.
