In the fourth quarter, it rose again. The resurrection of the former king of the mobile world is well underway, as the Nokia-branded phones manufactured by HMD Global have already racked up more than 4.4 million sales in Q4 2017.
To put this in perspective, those numbers overshadow far more popular brands such as OnePlus and Google. Other smartphone brands left in the dust by the resurgence of the Finnish brand are HTC, Sony and, Lenovo.
The numbers come courtesy of Counterpoint Research analyst Neil Shah, who shared the news on Twitter:
Talking about smartphones performance, in Q4 2017, @HMDGlobal sold more Nokia branded phones globally and is now bigger smartphone brand than following individual brands:

HTC
Sony
Alcatel
Lenovo
OnePlus
Gionee
Meizu
Coolpad
Asus
These are, of course, impressive numbers given HMD and Nokia brought the fruits of their partnership to market just about a year ago. Since then, HMD Global has already refreshed the Nokia 6 for 2018, and the company is said to be looking to expand its portfolio with newer models like the Nokia 9 and the penta-lens Nokia 10.
