The ability to buy games for your friends through the Xbox One family of consoles has been a much-requested feature, and Microsoft finally confirmed that it's coming back in July. The feature will at last become available today, according to Microsoft's Mike Ybarra. You'll need to be an Xbox Insider to get it though.
Naturally, the Preview Alpha ring will get it starting today. Ybarra hasn't made it clear if any other rings will get it at the same time, or if they'll have to wait a bit longer. He also wasn't clear on whether or not this will require users to install a new build, so we'll likely find out more later on today.
The feature comes with perfect timing, as the holiday season is right around the corner. Now, you can buy your friends digital games without the hassle of having to go to the store, buy a disc, and wrap it.
If you're not an Insider, you should be able to use the feature pretty soon. It's not part of a major feature update, so Microsoft is just testing it out before rolling out the capability to everyone.
