The Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility installs to the target system the Windows* INF files that outline to the operating system how the chipset components will be configured.
-
This is needed for the proper functioning of the following features:
- Core PCI and ISAPNP Services
- AGP Support
- IDE/ATA33/ATA66/ATA100 Storage Support
- USB Support
- Identification of Intel Chipset Components in the Device Manager
This release adds:
- Signed CAT files (and related INF files) for the 852/855 GM/GME chipsets
- Updated software package to include the ICH4-M folder which contains the files needed for extraction of INF's for preload purposes specific to ICH4 mobile chipsets. These files were previously located in the ICH4 folder.
- Removed Windows 98SE 845G signed INF without the GE/PE/GV chipsets in the name string and replaced it with the v4.04 845G unsigned INF that has the GE/PE/GV chipsets added to be consistent with v4.04 release.
