The conclusive episode to IO Interactive's World of Assassination trilogy, Hitman 3, was revealed about two months ago at Sony's PlayStation 5 reveal event. At the time, not many details about the upcoming title in the Hitman franchise were disclosed, apart from the developer's aspirations of making it into a game with a world that would continually grow and expand over time.
IO had promised that further details about the game would be revealed in the future. Today, the Danish video game developer confirmed that Hitman 3 will have several different game modes and went on to detail them. The first is the campaign mode which will follow the main storyline of the World of Assassination series. Players will get to see at least five sandbox locations from around the world apart from Dubai, as shown earlier.
The game will comprise of four more playable modes, some of which have been seen before in other titles in the Hitman franchise: Elusive Targets, Escalations, Contracts Mode and Sniper Assassin. Of course, all of these modes have been tweaked and improved to make for a better and more challenging gaming experience. Changes to returning game modes include certain alterations to the formula of Elusive Targets and limiting the Sniper Assassin mode as a single-player experience in existing maps.
Unfortunately, as the launch of Hitman 3 approaches, certain servers for the preceding game in the series, Hitman 2, will be shut down. This includes the Sniper Assassin co-op servers, which will be closed a little before the third part releases, and the Ghost Mode servers which are set to shut down on August 31, 2020. Incidentally, the next dev update will also air on the same date.
Hitman 3 is due out at an unknown date in January 2021. The stealth shooting game is scheduled to arrive on multiple platforms, including current and next-gen consoles as well as PCs.
