Microsoft may be working with Hitman developer IO Interactive to develop a fantasy title based on a brand new IP. Reported by Windows Central and also corroborated by Eurogamer sources, this mysterious project is supposedly in very early development at the studio, and it will be published under the Xbox label.
Described as a "connected-world RPG", the game is said to feature dragons in some capacity, perhaps giving disappointed Scalebound fans another chance at experiencing the scaly fire breathers.
It's not a secret that IO Interactive is actively hiring new personnel for an unannounced project. The company also expanded recently to open a new development wing in Barcelona, which joined the current Copenhagen and Malmö studios.
As with other Xbox exclusives, if this project is revealed at some point in the future, it should be coming to both Xbox Series X|S consoles and PC, while also being a day one Xbox Game Pass drop. Still, take today's reports with a grain of salt until official announcements come through from either Microsoft or IO Interactive
Aside from this unannounced project - that may or may not be dragon-related -, IO Interactive is currently working on a James Bond game and supporting Hitman 3's ongoing live service elements.
