Animojis, the feature that Apple loves and no one asked for, are getting a refresh with the upcoming iOS 12.2 update. The second developer beta was released today, and there are four new Animojis included with it: a giraffe, a shark, a warthog, and an owl. As usual, Animojis are available for iPhones from the iPhone X family, and the latest family of iPad Pro tablets.
The feature allows for the animated characters to be placed on top of your face, and they mimic your facial expressions. You can use them in iMessages to send a voice message, or you can just superimpose an Animoji on your face in FaceTime during a video call. Beginning with iOS 12, Apple also began letting users design their own Animojis so that they can look like the user.
Spotted by 9to5Mac, each of the new Animojis come with their own characteristics. The giraffe will raise its ears if you raise your eyebrows, and the shark will show its sharp teeth if you show your teeth.
iOS 12.2 has only been in beta for less than two weeks, so it may be a little while before the general public gets their hands on these. Luckily, it will still work if you send one of the new Animoji to someone that's not on the beta.
