It's been about a year since Apple launched the iPad 2 and now the company is close to revealing the third major version of its best selling tablet product. The Verge and other media outlets are reporting they have received an invite by Apple to attend a press event in San Francisco on Wednesday, March 7th.
The invite image itself clearly indicates that it will focus on the iPad, showing what looks like the first official look at the iPad 3 with its highly rumored high definition screen.
Apple's iPad has been a huge sales success for the company since the first one launched in 2010. In its last financial conference call, the company said that it had sold over 15 million iPad units in the fourth quarter of 2011. With the possible exception of Amazon's recent Kindle Fire tablet, no other tablet maker has released a product that has come close to the iPad's sales numbers.
Rumors on the Internet claim that the iPad 3 will feature a quad-core processor with others suggesting that Apple might keep the iPad 2 on sale and reduce its price to perhaps compete with the Kindle Fire and the other cheaper tablet models. Thankfully, all the speculation wlll be ending in just eight days.
