Engadget's got word that the iPhone 4 stock is sold out over at AT&T, originally a rumor by Boy Genius Report, but now confirmed by AT&T as the "busiest online sales day in history" with AT&T's website unresponsive for the majority of users.
AT&T replied to Engadget saying:
"Because of the incredible interest in iPhone 4, today was the busiest online sales day in AT&T history. As of Tuesday afternoon, customers who preorder iPhone 4 moving forward will receive their device on June 25 or later, depending on when the order is placed. We'll email customers with confirmation once their order is placed, and again when it ships. In addition, we will have devices available on a first-come, first-serve basis in our stores beginning on June 24."
iPhone 4 sales kicked off the morning of June 15th, and were only available for a few hours at AT&T's site before stock was exhausted.
It's also rumored that the AT&T internal network is feeling the pressure with so many iPhones being ordered. AT&T was performing paper orders today, by imprinting credit cards and taking details down.
The iPhone 4 is the latest version of the iPhone lineup, and comes as the first major revision since 2008, sporting a thinner design, 960x640 display, 5MP rear camera, and a front facing camera. If you haven't been able to get your hands on a pre-order, there's no word on any new stock over at AT&T yet, so you'll just have to hold tight.
