It's been less than two months since Valve launched the big Pyromania update for Team Fortress 2. The free-to-play multiplayer shooter, which now gets its revenues solely from sales of cosmetic in-game items, added a new map and gameplay mode called Doomsday at the time, among other new content.
But is Valve getting ready to give Team Fortress 2 players an even bigger content change? That's what many on the Internet are currently speculating after someone on the NeoGAF forums spotted a link to a previously unseen page on the game's official website.
The page, which has "gray" in its URL, shows the image of a 19th century style "letter" which talks about the birth of someone with the name grey. The date of birth shown in the letter, September 2, 1822, has led some to speculate that Valve has something big to launch on September 2, 2012.
So what does all of this mean? Is Team Fortress 2 going to add a new "gray" faction that will join with the previous Red and Blu factions? Some are also speculating that the mention of "gray" is technically not a faction but some kind of new AI bots that will be added to Team Fortress 2.
In any case, when Valve starts up a new viral campaign like this one, big things could be coming in the near future. We will keep you posted.
