On top of the formerly known Facebook parent company renaming to Meta and introducing what the "Metaverse" entails, new leaks have trickled down revealing further intentions of the company's future product line. As reported by Bloomberg, the "Metaverse" product line will include a new smartwatch if the latest leaks are to be believed.
In an accidental leak, the image for the Meta smartwatch was leaked in one of Ray-Ban's Stories on Facebook.
It seems that the notch frenzy that is picking up steam with Apple's latest MacBook Pro line will now transition into Meta's smartwatch. The notch in Meta's purported smartwatch hides a forward-facing camera on the bottom of the smartwatch's display. According to code found in Facebook View, it seems that the camera would be capable of recording video as well as taking photos which could then be uploaded directly to a smartphone. In addition, the photo that was leaked shows the smartwatch display having curved sides with a rounded square appearance.
The smartwatch seems to have interchangeable wrist bands and a button on the right side of the device. Given the size of the display on Meta's smartwatch schematics, it would seem that the feature set of this device would be more extensive than basic smartwatches and presumably have more functionality in parallel with Apple Watch. That said, it is important to note that the existence of this smartwatch or its capabilities have not been confirmed by Meta as of yet.
