While the three big presentations may be over and done with, their are still a lot going on in LA at the E3 convention. Here is a roundup of today's popular stories coming out of the Playstation Camp.
Sony to offer good will program to UMD upgraders
One of the biggest concerns gamers had with the announcement of the PSP GO is what the situation would be for those who own a previous modeled PSP with plenty of UMD's (Sony's proprietary format for content on the PSP) and wanted to upgrade to the newly announced PSP GO. In a interview with John Koller, the Director of Hardware Marketing for Sony, he stated that Sony is planning an "upgrade" program for those who want to purchase to the new model. How this is going to be done is still up in the air, but it looks like it will all be done online through the PSN store to encourage people to use the service. The exact price of the upgrades are also yet to be determined and how exactly they are going to keep track of those games people are trying to upgrade from, but it does look good that the service won't cost would be upgrades anything.
GT5 could be released today if Sony decided so
The father of the Gran Turismo series, Kazunori Yamauchi, has come out and revealed that the highly anticipated Gran Turismo 5 is "at a point we can release it any time we want." The impression that Yamauchi gave though seemed to be one more on the cautious side, stating that their are still some little things about the game that need to be perfected before he is fully comfortable with a release. He also talked about cross functionality between the PSP version of the game. "We're hoping maybe to make it so you can share the garage with the PSP version so that cars you unlock on PSP will be available immediately on GT5." The PSP game is slotted be to around a gigabyte in size and future downloadable content for the portable version is unlikely (with 800 cars, what more could you want?).
New Playstation firmware update on the way?
According to a newsletter that Sony e-mailed out about the E3 conference, it looks like their could be a good chance of an upcoming Playstation 3 or Playstation Portable firmware update announcement.
Invizimals: New unique Pokemon clone for PSP
A new Pokemon clone dubbed Invizimals is coming out for the PSP. The game will make use of the PSP Eye Toy and looks pretty cool. The game litterally takes place in the real world, but rather then me trying to explain it, watch the trailer below to see come pretty unique gameplay.
