Another day, another iPad 5 leak. The upcoming tablet from the Californian company has seen another sighting in the form of a component purporting to be a legitimate rear panel.
Tactus, the source that recently brought us a potential rear shell for a rumoured budget iPhone, offers up an image that looks rather like the iPad mini-style shell all the rumours have been pointing towards:
With no measure of scale to this image or older component to compare it against, it's difficult to appreciate the leaked part. Although, given the placement and relative size of the volume button mechanism on the right of the image, the shell could fit a device that strongly resembles an iPad mini, incorporating the Retina display from a full-sized iPad.
The source offers some opinion-based insight on the dimensions of the upcoming tablet:
Everything's slimming down even more with every leak and rumour, I even think with the use of the IZGO display, Apple will be able to use a much slimmer LED backlight. I'm inclined to think the iPad 5 will shape up to be just 7.2mm thick.
Whilst the validity of this claim or even the above image cannot be verified at this point, given the specificity of the measurement and the fact the site have delivered two reasonably believable parts in quick succession, you might be inclined to believe it.
The post continues to speculate that the iPad 5 will feature the 8MP camera seen in the iPhone 5 and storage options ranging up to 128GB.
