Last month we reported that the Motorola name was to be phased out the as it unifies operations with its parent company, Lenovo. "We'll slowly phase out Motorola and focus on Moto,” stated Rick Osterloh, Motorola's Chief Operating Officer.
This means that, in addition to Lenovo's own Vibe smartphone lineup, popular phones like the Moto X and Moto G are likely to live on, and we may already have a glimpse of what they may look like.
The photos were leaked on the hellomotoHK fan page, and purport to show new Moto devices in development.
The more premium-looking devices seem to be made of metal, potentially hinting at a new direction for the Moto X line. If this is the case, it’s unclear how Lenovo plans to retain the Moto Maker customization option, though it appears that we may get at least 3 different colors.
We also get a look at some devices that look an awful lot like the Moto G (in the third image), with a very familiar design and what looks to be removable backs with different color options.
While it’s still unclear what we should expect from these devices, or even if we are indeed looking at the Moto X and Moto G, we may not have to wait very long before this year’s Moto handsets are launched.
