Lenovo's virtual reality (VR) camera with Daydream, called the Mirage Camera, is now available for pre-order from Amazon at a retail price of $299.99. Unveiled at CES 2018 in Las Vegas alongside the Mirage Solo, the Mirage Camera is set for release on May 4. It runs on the Daydream VR platform developed by Google.
The Mirage Camera has a 180 x 180-degree field of capture meant to record videos, which can then be viewed in virtual reality. The Mirage Camera allows users to create immersive VR content, courtesy of its point-and-shoot feature that provides support for Google's VR180. Wearers will also be able to upload content to Google Photos and live stream videos on YouTube in VR.
The VR device features dual cameras each with a sensor size of 13-megapixel and an aperture of f/2.1. It is also capable of capturing videos at a resolution of up to 4K at 30fps for more crisp and immersive VR videos and photos.
Inside, the device is powered by a Snapdragon 626 chipset and a 2,200mAh battery that supports USB Type-C charging. The processor is paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of eMMC2 storage, which is expandable up to 128GB.
