Lenovo unveils its Star Wars augmented reality headset, and you can have a lightsaber fight

Last month, Lenovo teased Star Wars: Jedi Challenges, a new augmented reality experience that was created in partnership with Disney. Today at IFA, the company finally took the wraps off of the project, unveiling it in all of its glory.

The headset itself is called the Mirage, and it comes bundled with a Lightsaber Controller and a Tracking Beacon. And to answer the question that's on your mind, yes, you can absolutely get in a holographic lightsaber fight with villains like Kylo Ren and Darth Vader. I got to try this out, and it's every bit as awesome as it sounds.

There are other games involved too though. Strategic Combat allows you to "lead Rebel forces against the Empire in large scale ground wars", and you can also play Holochess, which was seen in the original Star Wars movie, A New Hope.

The Mirage headset is powered by your smartphone; you'll just slide your device into the provided tray, and the bundle comes with adapters for Lightning, micro-USB, and USB Type-C. You'll need to make sure that you have a compatible phone, and you can find the list here.

The Star Wars: Jedi Challenges bundle will be available this November online and at Best Buy stores for $199.99, but you can pre-order it from Lenovo right now.
