A couple of months ago, Lenovo teased an upcoming gaming phone under its Legion brand, which it typically uses for gaming laptops. The teaser only revealed that the device will use a Snapdragon 865 5G chipset, but the company has now teased another big feature - support for 90W charging.
Through the Chinese social network Weibo (via Android Authority), the company shared an image that clearly references 90W charging speeds, which would make it the fastest-charging phone on the market by a considerable margin, Currently, the OPPO Find X2 Pro has the highest charging speeds of any smartphone, at 65W, and that's already very fast, rivaling many laptop chargers.
While some speculated that Lenovo might be using wordplay by adding up the charging speeds for wired, wireless, and reverse wireless charging, the company has clearly responded saying it doesn't play with words. It further states that if it added up these factors, it would be more than 90W, which suggests that some form of wireless charging is present.
Charging speeds have become one of the distinctive factors OEMs try to fight for. While OPPO's 65W charging currently leads the pack, we've seen companies work on speeds as high as 120W, though that capability has yet to make it to a real product. Lenovo's Legion brand could be off to a strong start if it's first to 90W charging.
