Announced at CES in January, Lenovo's Smart Display went up for pre-order in June. While the device was expected to launch in September, Google announced today that it's available now.
The Lenovo Smart Display is powered by Google Assistant, but it has an extra dimension from a Google Home device, since it has a screen. That means that along with listening to your Google Play Music, you can watch YouTube videos as well.
The screen can also give you suggestions for follow-up questions. For example, if you ask what the weather will be today, there's a button on the bottom of the screen that says, "What about tomorrow?" You can either verbally ask that question, or you can tap it on the screen.
Then, of course, you can also get news, sports information, and you can control your smart home devices. You can use it to get recipes, and the device will guide you through cooking something.
The Smart Display goes on sale today, with the 8-inch model costing $199 and the 10-inch model costing $249. Make sure to check out our unboxing and first impressions video.
