Lenovo's Z5 Pro is finally going to officially debut on November 1

It was a couple months ago during IFA Berlin when Honor teased its Magic 2 smartphone, featuring what at the time was a unique slider design. Soon thereafter, Lenovo and Xiaomi also teased similar style phones, taking something that was once unique and making it commonplace. Today, Xiaomi finally officially revealed its slider phone, the Mi MIX 3, and it looks like Lenovo has responded, offering a reveal date for its own device.

Lenovo's Z5 Pro has been seen sparsely so far, appearing at an official Lenovo event at the top of the month and also through an unofficial video. But the firm is now ready for the big reveal which is slated to happen on November 1. The company's vice president posted a teaser image to Weibo, with a gradient color design, the outline of the phone itself, and most importantly the date.

It will be interesting to see whether this phone will make a retail appearance outside of Asia and also whether this kind of design takes off with consumers. Many have grumbled about the presence of a notch on the display of Android phones and while this design aims to change that trend, there are also those who would complain that the sliding mechanism could be fragile and prone to damage. You win some, you lose some.
