As the company typically does ahead of CES, LG announced its new round of gram laptops today. As the name suggests, these laptops are meant to be the lightest in their class. Indeed, the 14-inch clamshell is just 2.2 pounds, while the 16-inch clamshell is 2.62 pounds. Even the LG gram 17 comes in at under three pounds. And it's not that LG skimps on the battery either; these laptops are made out of a light magnesium material.
There are a few key things that are new this year. First of all, all of the new models come with 16:10 displays. That means that the screens are taller than your average 16:9 display, and these laptops also have four-sided narrow bezels. Previously, it was just the gram 17 that offered the 16:10 aspect ratio. LG also said that the screens have 99% DCI-P3 color gamut.
The other big thing that's new is Intel's 11th-generation 'Tiger Lake' processors. Not only are these better 10nm CPUs, but they come with more powerful Iris Xe graphics, a notable improvement considering that LG has always used integrated graphics, yet still aims its laptops at creators. Other benefits of Tiger Lake include Thunderbolt 4 and faster memory.

"Synonymous with unprecedented portability and first-class performance, the LG gram brand continues to raise the bar for the ultra-slim laptop market," said Jang Ik-hwan, senior vice president and head of the IT business unit of LG Electronics Business Solutions Company. "With sleeker, more refined designs and 16:10 aspect ratio displays while maintaining light weight, our latest LG gram lineup gives consumers the ability to enjoy better productivity and more immersive viewing experiences wherever they go."
LG didn't say exactly when these new laptops will be available or how much they'll cost, but availability will likely be announced soon.
