LG Electronics wants you to have clean air in your nice cool home, so it is implementing some smart AI ThinQ technology into a new line of air purifiers and air conditioners that it will be showing off at CES 2018 in January.
One product focuses on dust removal from your home, beneficial if you have allergies or breathing problems. The PuriCare system features two devices: an air-monitoring dust sensor and then the main unit to actually clean the air. The sensor works at all times, and if it deems that dust levels are becoming "uncomfortable" for the home, it will then automatically turn on the air purifier as needed. The purifier also has a rather strong blower, designed to push clean air up to 7.5 meters away from the device, making it great for larger, congested places such as the living room or family room.
The second smart product is a mouthful, dubbed the DualCool ThinQ Stand Inverter Air Conditioner. The ThinQ branding hints of the new deep learning AI that LG is building into its 2018 line of appliances. In the case of the air conditioner, the unit has a movement sensor that recognizes when people are in the room. If people are close to the unit, it will adjust its air output based on the proximity of the person to the unit. The voice-activated unit also has the capability of learning what areas of the home will need more cooling throughout the day.
“LG’s intelligent home appliances are leading the industry in their capability to predict user needs to create a more comfortable living environment,” Song Dae-hyun, president of LG’s Home Appliance & Air Solution Company, said in a press release. “Artificial intelligence is at a level now where it can do more than just play chess and LG is committed to using this technology to improve consumers’ quality of life.”
CES 2018 runs January 9-12, and LG plans on having a wide range of its appliances and electronics at the show.
