LG has announced that it will be showing off its new Levitating Portable Bluetooth Speaker at the Consumer Electronics Show, which kicks off on Jan 5th in Las Vegas. The model PJ9 speaker uses powerful electromagnets housed inside the Levitation Station to give the speaker its distinctive trait of being untouched by any surface or wires when playing.
At the core is a 360–degree omnidirectional speaker with a turbine blade-inspired design, and deep bass courtesy of the subwoofer embedded inside the Levitation Station. The PJ9 also features Dual Passive Radiator technology to reproduce "flush mid-range tones and crisp highs".
As far as battery life goes, you can expect to get 10 hours out of a single charge, with the "smart" portable speaker automatically descending to the Levitation Station to charge wirelessly with no intervention from the listener and no interruption in the music.
In addition the PJ9 is IPX7 compliant in order to "withstand any adverse weather condition" (which means it should be splash proof) when being used outdoors. For added convenience, Multipoint technology will enable the speaker to connect to two Bluetooth devices simultaneously.
Although no pricing info has been announced, you'll be able to check out the speaker at LG’s stand at the Las Vegas Convention Center (Booth #11100, Central Hall) as well as the company’s full lineup of wireless audio products. Neowin will be there to bring you the news from the show floor, so keep an eye out for that.
