LG is a smartphone company that knows a thing or two about marketing. When Samsung was drumming up interest for its Galaxy S4 launch event in New York City last month, LG mocked it with a Times Square ad that said its Optimus G was already available.
Today, LG sent out invites to a press event of its own in the Big Apple. Engadget reports that it will be held on May 1st and the invite has the odd tag line of "Share the genius." The sub-title adds, "Capture the Spotlight in True Brilliance", on top of what looks like a smoky music stage with a single microphone as its photo background.
So the question is, "What is LG announcing and what in the world does 'Share the genius' even mean?" We have no idea what that tag line means, but as for the event itself, LG might be ready to announce either the successor to its Android powered Optimus G or it may be ready to launch the Optimus G Pro in the US. That Android 4.1 smartphone with its big 5.5 inch screen was launched earlier this year in Japan and South Korea.
