The Document Foundation has announced the availability of LibreOffice 7.3. If you don’t keep track, The Document Foundation releases a new version of LibreOffice every six months or so in July or August, and January or February. The LibreOffice 7 series has had a strong focus on compatibility with Microsoft Office making it easier to work between both suites.
For a short round-up of the features included with LibreOffice 7.3, check out the video below:
Aside from improvements to the main LibreOffice program’s functions, the in-built help tool has been improved to support users. As The Document Foundation doesn’t offer support to users of its free Community variant of LibreOffice, users either have to consult the help tool or go online and ask other people. With LibreOffice 7.3, the help tool now shows search results focused on the user’s current module and pages for Calc Functions have been reviewed for accuracy and completeness.
The Document Foundation said that its suite offers the highest level of compatibility in the office suite market segment with its main focus on the OpenDocument Format, which it claims offers more security and robustness compared to proprietary formats. It also said the owners of documents saved in legacy formats may also be able to open up their files in LibreOffiice.
LibreOffice 7.3 is now ready for download and is also available for Apple Silicon hardware. The Document Foundation also re-iterated calls for businesses to use LibreOffice Enterprise products rather than the Community edition so that more work can go into the development of the open-source suite.
