Little SIS first to show 400Mhz FSB Barton chipset

THE NEWS THAT AMD would be introducing a 400MHz FSB version of its new Barton chip caught many industry observers on the hop. Nobody had expected it quite so soon after the launch of the current version of the Barton. Now SIS has become the first company to announce a new chipset that supports it.

SIS launched the new chipset at Cebit yesterday. The product is, as you would expect, a full DDR400 solution. It also features a 1GB/s link between the North and South bridges, USB2, 6 channel sound, ATA133, 10/100 Ethernet and Home PNA2.0.

SIS gets a tip of the hat for being first but we're sure it won't be the last company to stump up a 400MHz FSB chipset. The difference in speed should add a reasonable kick up in speed to the Athlon XP
