Logitech has announced the release of a new stylus dubbed the "Logitech Pen" for touchscreen Chromebooks. Since the use of online education has been increasing rapidly in the world due to the ongoing pandemic, this has also increased the use of Chromebooks in educational environments, thus increasing the need for a pointer and inking device that can simulate a pen or a pencil more accurately.
The Pen has been designed for students and is compatible with Chromebooks that support Universal Stylus Initiative (USI). Its battery will reportedly last up to 15 days on a single charge, but as noted by The Verge, the company defines this duration under the impression that the peripheral is used 2.5 hours per day with its smart sleep and wake feature enabled. Logitech also claims that if the stylus' battery dies, only 30 seconds of charging with a Chromebook's USB-C cable can power it for 30 minutes of further use. It can even be used while recharging.
The Logitech Pen sports 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity and can pair with Chromebooks quite easily. It also features a silicon grip to make it more comfortable to hold. The Pen sports the MIL-STD-810G specifications for durability which means that it can survive up to drops of up to four feet and is also spill-resistant. The Logitech Pen will reportedly release in the coming months, priced at $64.99 in the United States and other global markets, with three years of hardware warranty as well.
