Although Mega Man enjoyed its first release back in 1987, the series is still alive and kicking. While there have been collections released over the past year, this latest entry in the series will be something brand new.
It has been nearly eight years since the release of the last stand-alone Mega Man title, but the folks at Capcom have now revealed that a sequel to the 2010's Mega Man 10 will arrive sometime later next year.
The announcement came today during the Mega Man 30th Anniversary live stream that was occurring on Twitch. While the previous title in the series relied on a retro look with its 8-bit graphics and chiptune soundtrack, the new game will utilize a more polished look with 2.5D graphics. Despite it looking quite modern, the characters and environments are completely hand-drawn, according to Capcom.
Like always, players will be tasked with taking down Dr. Wily and his band of rambunctious robots, where defeating a boss will endow Mega Man with a unique ability. While this news is certainly exciting, the game isn't even close to releasing, instead, set to arrive in late 2018 on the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch.
