In June, the development team behind MetroTwit released version 1.0 for Windows 8 via the Windows Store. Now, with the new OS launching to the general public in less than two weeks, the team behind MetroTwit has launched a major new update for Windows 8, including a "Pro" version.
The new version contains a number of additional features, including Twitter streaming and lists support, inline media previews, geolocation support and more. Of course, the team has also fixed a number of the bugs that have cropped up since the launch of MetroTwit 1.0.
In addition to the free version, users have the option to purchase the Pro version for $4.99. This option eliminates ads, while offering support for multiple accounts. The Pro version may also add a number of other features in the future that won't be a part of the free MetroTwit app.
People who have purchased MetroTwit Plus, the paid version of the Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 client, will be able to get MetroTwit Pro for Windows 8 for free. The team states, "Simply copy and paste the MetroTwit Plus email code into the General Settings screen from the Settings charm to validate the upgrade."
