Microsoft has announced today that they have acquired FantasySalesTeam, a platform for bringing 'gamification' to the sales process. The tool is designed to help drive internal sales and boost collaboration among employees by rewarding incentives based on team action, rather than per employee.
How it works is much like that of any other fantasy sports-based game but instead of the NFL or MLB players, your team consists of your co-workers, and can also involve managers and other employees who are not directly selling products. Because you are on a team, you become invested in your co-workers' success as well and when they win, you win as well.
Microsoft is buying this tool to help boost the appeal of its CRM solutions as the company looks to find ways to differentiate its platform from the market.
The company hopes that this new tool will help customers of its CRM solutions drive more revenue with new ways to incentivize their employees. Per usual, Microsoft did not announce the price that they paid for FantasySalesTeam.
