Earlier this month, Microsoft launched Lumia Camera Beta, a preview version of the photography app that it pre-installs on its Windows Phone handsets. The first release didn't contain much that wasn't already available in the standard version - but that's starting to change now.
Microsoft has now updated the app with new features exclusively for Windows 10 phones:
- Updated design
- Selfie stick support for pictures and videos
- Simplified output resolutions
However, Lumia Camera Beta is only available for a handful of devices so far, and the only two of those handsets that the Windows 10 preview for phones currently supports are the Lumia 640 (but not the Lumia 640 XL) and Lumia 1520. If you're not running Windows 10 on either of those handsets, you won't be able to take advantage of these features just yet.
Microsoft did acknowledge today that "the primary intent of the [Lumia Camera] beta trial is to validate the app on phones with Windows Phone 8.1", but it's evidently keen to test new features on what it refers to as 'Windows 10 Mobile' as well.
