Outlook's Play My Email feature is a nifty capability of the email service that debuted late last year on iOS. It works by reading your emails as they arrive and it can prove useful if you'd like to get a glimpse of your inbox on the fly.
Today, Microsoft launched that feature on Outlook for Android (via OnMSFT). You can enable Play My Email by tapping your profile photo at the top left corner and choosing the Settings menu. You can find that feature at the bottom, just right below the "Organize mail by thread" option. Today's release should not come as a surprise since Microsoft already promised in May to roll out the feature to Outlook on Android sometime in the future.
In addition to reading your new emails, the capability is designed to perform other tasks. Here's the full release note on the Play Store, where the app's version is bumped to 4.2031.2:
"Introducing Play My Emails — listen to a natural read out of new email and upcoming events while you walk the dog or get your steps in for the day. You can even reply quickly using your voice. Available for eligible accounts in English in the United States."
The feature's availability is limited at the moment, however. While the Play My Email option seems to be already visible to everyone, it can be turned on only for email accounts in the U.S. It is not clear when users in other countries can enable that option.
