Soon after the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) announced the cancelation of this year's E3 event, both Microsoft and Ubisoft have revealed they are planning new digital events that will replace the annual convention.
"E3 has always been an important moment for Team Xbox," said head of Xbox Phil Spencer in a tweet. "Given this decision, this year we'll celebrate the next generation of gaming with the @Xbox community and all who love to play via an Xbox digital event."

With a brand new console coming from the company later this year, the Xbox Series X, as well as first-party games, Microsoft probably had quite a few announcements and reveals to make during E3.
Ubisoft also tweeted out an update to its E3 plans, saying it fully supports "ESA's decision to cancel E3 2020," and that the event will "continue to be a moment where we come together as a community and share our love of games." Mirroring Xbox plans, Ubisoft is "exploring other options for a digital experience" to share details of its upcoming projects, many of which were delayed late last year.
