As of today, Microsoft Solitaire Collection is now available on iOS and Android. The company says that Solitaire been one of the most played games on Windows over the past 25 years, so now it wants to bring the game to other platforms.
Of course, this is not the Solitaire that we all grew up with. That was a free game that came with Windows, along with Minesweeper, Hearts, and FreeCell. The modern version of the game, Microsoft Solitaire Collection, uses a freemium model, so it's free to play, but you'll have to pay if you don't want to see advertisements.
If you download the game for iOS and Android, you'll get the Premium Edition for free until the end of the year, which Microsoft says is a $1.99 value. This includes "no ads, game boosts and double coins for all Daily Challenges."
The game will have Xbox Live integration on both platforms, as it does in its Windows apps. This means that you can sign in with your Gamertag and your progress and game data will sync with the cloud, no matter which device you're playing on.
Microsoft says that Solitaire Collection has reached 119 million unique users since it launched four years ago for Windows 8. This is impressive, considering that the company announced that it had reached 100 million less than three months ago.
You can download Microsoft Solitaire Collection from the iOS App Store here or from the Google Play Store here.
