Microsoft launched the Surface lineup of tablets over three years ago, however, the devices weren't made available to the Indian market until now. Today, the company announced that it will be selling the Surface Pro 3 and Pro 4 tablets in the country through Amazon.
Last year, it was revealed by Microsoft India's Director of Windows Business Group, Vineet Durani, that the company was planning to launch the Surface lineup in India, and now consumers can finally pre-order the tablets from Amazon. The pricing of the various Surface variants available in India are as follows:
Surface Pro 3 | Surface Pro 4 | Surface Pro 4 | Surface Pro 4 |
i3/4GB/128GB | i5/128GB/4GB | i5/256GB/8GB | i7/256GB/8GB |
Rs. 73,990/- ($1107) | Rs. 89,990/- ($1346) | Rs. 1,20,990/- ($1810) | Rs. 1,44,990/- ($2169) |
The price of the tablets in India are quite high in comparison with other markets. For example: The base Surface Pro 4 variant with Core i5 and 128GB of storage can now be availed for as low as $930 through Amazon in the US, whereas its price in India translates roughly to $1346.
Interested buyers can pre-order the devices from Amazon India, which will begin shipping the devices after the 14th of January. Microsoft will also be selling the Surface tablets to commercial customers through authorized resellers.
