Now that the all new Windows Phone 8 devices are being sold in stores and online, the next question many people have on their minds is, "When will the Windows Phone 7.8 launch occur?" Microsoft has yet to say much in an official manner about this update for Windows Phone 7.5 devices, although there are rumors that it has reached the RTM build status.
There is evidence that we could see the release of Windows Phone 7.8 in the very near future. According to an article on Menafn.com, a new interview with the Greater China Vice President of Microsoft has him declaring that Windows Phone 7.8 will be launched in the coming weeks in that part of the world.
Microsoft has never really given a specific launch date for this software update to its older mobile OS, although a first quarter 2013 release seems like a safe bet. This update will add some new features to some older Windows Phone devices, such as a new Start screen. It's also a bit of a consolation prize for the people who bought these phones as Microsoft has no plans to update them to the new Windows Phone 8 OS. Hopefully Microsoft won't keep us in the dark for much longer.
