Microsoft crashed an Oracle seminar for 300 customers and developers in Seattle this week, with members of the Exchange team dropping by the event with an espresso cart to hand out free drinks.
Microsoft actually taped the shenanigans, and the company says it will use the humorous footage for internal promotions.
Laugh-a-minute hijinks at the Redmond campus eh?
If you're wondering why the Exchange team stopped by, and not the SQL Server team as you might expect, that's because Oracle is now taking on Exchange with a new product called Collaboration Suite, which, like Exchange, focuses on email and personal information management.
"Nobody is buying Oracle's product," says David Siroky, an Exchange product manager. But the companies have a history of tweaking each other and it's only a matter of time before the Oracle folks devise a similar, fraternity-style prank to get back at their rivals from the software giant. What's so funny about peace, love and understanding?
