In a live Twitter Q&A, the Microsoft Edge Development Team were answering questions sent into them by the Edge community. Of course, it wasn't too long before a question related to Xbox One was asked - and sure enough, it was, and answered, too.
During the Q&A, a user called SHarshaT sent in the following question:
Are you bringing Edge to Xbox 1? Will it have the same features as Win10? I am missing lot of functionalities on current browser.
Just a few minutes later, the Microsoft Edge team replied, confirming that Microsoft Edge will be landing on Xbox One:
Yes, Edge will be coming to Xbox One
It has, until now, been unknown officially whether Edge would be arriving on Xbox One - now only one question remains: will Edge be available on the upcoming Windows 10 on Xbox One Preview?
There were a few articles in the past that popped up claiming that Microsoft Edge was coming to Xbox One, however none cited any sources from what can be seen. at least now the status of Edge on Xbox One is very clear, direct from the team creating the experience.
At least for now we can all relax, safe in the knowledge that Internet Explorer will be retiring - and, with the upcoming mouse support coming for Xbox One, we could be browsing the web faster than ever.
We don't yet know what features will be available on the Xbox One version of Edge, including whether or not bookmarks will sync across the devices you use. It will be interesting to see what the team manages to accomplish with the new Xbox One experience and how seamless it will be.
