We have reported a few months ago about Microsoft Garage going cross-platform, opening its doors to other platforms like iOS and Android. Since then, Microsoft Garage has launched a few apps on the Android platform, namely Torque, Journeys and Notes and the lock screen developed for professionals, Next.
In relation to this, Garage has recently released a second lock screen app for Android, named "Picturesque." The app takes advantage of the daily wallpapers being used on Bing.com.
Once installed, a user's lock screen will be updated with daily Bing images. The user can flip through other images posted from the past 6 days on the search engine, either by swiping through the images or by shaking the device. Searching (by Bing, of course) can also be done right from the lock screen, including viewing of linked pages.
Quick settings for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, volume, and brightness are included, as well as a direct access to the device’s camera. The app also lets users see new messages and missed calls, news and local weather updates. Lastly, it includes India-specific features like regional calendars.
Picturesque is free to download at the Google Play Store. You can try the app for yourself here.
