If you've been thinking of buying a Surface Book or Surface Pro 4 in the United States, there's very little point in paying full price for either device. Microsoft has now got into a pattern of discounting both of its high-end Windows 10 devices every two or three weeks now - and that time has come once again.
The company is now offering $150 off both the Book and Pro 4 - but the discount is only available on certain models and configurations:
Model | Regular price | Discount | Current price |
Surface Book | |||
Core i5 / 8GB RAM / 128GB SSD |
$1,499 | $150 | $1,349 |
Core i5 / 8GB RAM / 256GB SSD / dGPU | $1,899 | $150 | $1,749 |
Surface Pro 4 | |||
Core i5 / 4GB RAM / 128GB SSD | $999 | $150 | $849 |
Core i5 / 8GB RAM / 256GB SSD | $1,299 | $150 | $1,149 |
Core i7 / 8GB RAM / 256GB SSD | $1,599 | $150 | $1,449 |
Core i7 / 16GB RAM / 256GB SSD | $1,799 | $150 | $1,649 |
Core i7 / 16GB RAM / 512GB SSD | $2,199 | $150 | $2,049 |
Notably, the Surface Book discounts include the entry-level model, which may well make it a more attractive option for those whose budgets are limited. And on the Surface Pro 4 side, the reduction on the Core i5 / 4GB model brings its price down below that of the entry-level Intel Core m3 version, which remains priced at $899, offering a nice boost in specs for the most price-sensitive buyers.
But if you're planning to take advantage of any of these discounts, don't dawdle - these latest deals will only be available until Monday, May 30. Still, if you do miss out, it seems pretty much guaranteed that another round of deals will come along soon - and who knows? The next ones may be even better.
