Earlier this week, Microsoft launched the Xbox One S, an updated (and much smaller) version of its original Xbox One, which went on sale at the end of 2013. The new console supports HDR and 4K video, and it also includes an Easter egg that most owners will never see in person.
iFixit was first to spot it, in its teardown of the Xbox One S, and Microsoft's Mike Ybarra also acknowledged it on Twitter. Buried inside the console, etched into the bracket around the optical disc drive, is this:
It's a tribute, of course, to Master Chief, protagonist of the Halo gaming series, one of the key franchises that has helped Microsoft to sell millions of Xbox consoles over the years.
The new console includes a greeting from the Microsoft team too...
