The Microsoft machine is gearing up for the launch of Windows 10 next week and, to kick things off, has launched a new video series, '10 reasons to upgrade', with a new video being released for each of the 10 days till the official launch. Today's video focuses on Microsoft Edge, the new browser for Windows 10:
The first video goes over the familiar features of the Windows desktop and today's video showcases how Microsoft is improving upon previous generations of its products. The theme here is 'unexpected things' and that's certainly true of many of Edge's features. To provide a recap:
- Edge allows you to write, and markup, directly on webpages and then share them with friends;
- There's an included reading list for you to save articles to read later;
- A reading mode for the articles you've saved, providing a clean and distraction-free layout optimized for your screen; and
- Cortana integration, giving you access to even more information and allowing you to use the personal assistant from within your browser.
Many of these features, such as inking on webpages and a personal assistant embedded in the browser, are not offered by any of Microsoft's competitors.
