It's the holiday season, and that means that our favorite teams at companies like Microsoft and other tech firms are getting ready to pack it up for the holiday break. One of those teams is the one behind the Windows Insider Program.
Earlier this week, the team released build 20279 to those that haven't opted back into rs_prerelease, and that build is the RTM candidate for Iron, which means nothing to those using Windows 10 desktop. Internally, it's the RTM build for Windows 10X, so that will be something to look forward to in the spring.
Microsoft had planned a new rs_prerelease build for this week, but sadly, it didn't meet the quality bar. Because of that, there won't be anything new until after the holidays, in 2021.
Hey #WindowsInsiders, we really tried hard to get a new RS_PRERELEASE build out but it didn't hit the quality bar. Our team is heading out for the holidays so no more flights until January as we spend this downtime to recharge for what's in store for 2021. ^AL pic.twitter.com/GeeT9Cm2gw

Being that build 20279 is the last of the Iron builds, Microsoft is going to once again set to put everyone on the rs_prerelease branch after the holidays as well. While build 21277 was optional, don't expect the next one to be.
