Last week, with no announcement or fanfare of any kind, Microsoft quietly introduced significant price cuts for its Lumia 550, and its metal-bodied sibling, the Lumia 650, in the UK and Ireland.
The 650 now costs just £119.99 SIM-free via the Microsoft Store in the UK, down from £159.99 at which it launched less than five months ago. But elsewhere, its price has fallen even further.
Carphone Warehouse is now offering the Lumia 650 for just £99.99 when purchased with a £10 pay-as-you-go (PAYG) SIM pack on EE, which includes 150 minutes of cross-network talktime, unlimited texts and 500MB of 4G data for 30 days. The handset is also available with PAYG SIM packs from other UK networks, but at a higher overall price.
But given that almost all of the phones that Carphone Warehouse sells are unlocked, you can still buy the 650 for £109.99 with the EE PAYG SIM card, and use it with SIM cards from other networks, rather than having to pay those higher prices.
You can also get the device for £89.99 on a PAYG upgrade through Carphone Warehouse, if you're on O2 or Vodafone.
