Microsoft launched its Surface Book and Surface Pro 4 last October, and has regularly offered discounts and freebies to buyers of both devices. But if the premium price tags of the two Windows 10 devices have put you off making a purchase, you may want to consider a refurbished model instead.
Microsoft is offering both refurbished Book and Pro 4 models for 15% less than the price you'd pay for a brand new version. The company says:
Good as new, each refurbished Surface Book and Surface Pro 4 undergo a rigorous refurbishing process that includes hardware and cosmetic quality inspections, software updating, and diagnostic testing. And all refurbished Surface devices are backed by a manufacturer's limited one-year hardware warranty.
Here's how the prices compare between new and refurbished models of the Surface Book:
Model | Price (new) | Price (refurbished) | Difference |
128GB / Core i5 / 8GB RAM | $1,499 | $1,274 | $225 |
256GB / Core i5 / 8GB RAM / dGPU | $1,899 | $1,614 | $285 |

...and here's the same comparison for the Surface Pro 4:
