Those of you looking to get fit after a heavy festive season and looking to refresh your smartwatch or fitness tracker may be interested in a new deal from Microsoft.
Over on the Microsoft Store, there is currently an offer accepting trade-ins on various smartwatches and fitness trackers in return for a discount on Microsoft Band 2 purchases. The landing page for the offer suggests the maximum redeemable to a rather paltry $35. However, clicking through to the actual trade-in site reveals that as much as $250 can be redeemed.
According to the website, Apple Watches can fetch between $150 to $250 while the Fitbit Surge HR is eligible for up to $120 at trade-in. In somewhat of a curiosity, Microsoft is even accepting trade-ins on its own Band 2 at up to $120 provided units are in working condition, with the charging device included. Otherwise, most other devices will net a potential trade-in of between $10 to $25.
The trade-in process boils down to:
- Visiting the site to determine the trade-in value,
- Sending in your device,
- Wait for your promo code to arrive via email,
- Use your promo code at the Microsoft Store online checkout.
It's worth noting that promo codes received as part of the trade-in process expire on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 and can only be used online at the Microsoft Store in the US and Canada. Devices also need to be mailed in within a week of receiving the online quote.
This could be a good opportunity to offload an older eligible device sitting in a drawer while saving you the trouble of finding a potential buyer.
