The last couple of days have been pretty busy for Microsoft, as the company has released a bunch of preview versions of its products, including Windows 10 Redstone build 11102 and a preview of the Xbox One February update. But there’s another preview build that was released yesterday, which almost slipped below the radar.
Last night, after announcing Windows 10 Redstone build 11102, Microsoft also pushed out a preview version of Office, build 16.0.6366.2062. As you might be able to tell from that version number, this isn’t a big jump forward. And indeed the changelog shows this was mainly a bug-fixing release, with the following issues being taken care of:
- Word 2016 doesn't display your document formatting correctly when you edit a document
- Excel 2016 crashes when using Application.OnKey() to intercept key stroke
The Office Insider Program was originally started last year in November as a way to get more users involved in pushing the platform forward. It’s analogous to the Windows Insider program, albeit with more reach on other systems, especially after yesterday’s expansion to include Apple’s Mac users.
Users should also expect to see new feature being added in the months ahead as Microsoft continues to improve and polish Office 2016 and Office 365. If you want to sign-up to the Office Insider program you can do so on Windows, Android and OS X here.
